Meet The Artist
Melissa Avalon has been passionate about art since she could hold a crayon. Her creativity runs in the family: her mother loves fashion and painting, her father pursued a master's degree in multi-media art, and her uncle is a well-known glass artist. Melissa's grandmother, a metalsmithing graduate, taught her how to use tools and gave her fond memories of playing with jewelry and beads.
While Melissa didn't pursue formal education in a specific medium, she was always drawing, sculpting, and creating whenever she could. In high school, she carried a black sketchbook and collaborated with friends. In the early 2000s, she started experimenting with makeup and later found a new love in the face and body painting world.
Melissa's favorite part of face and body painting is collaborating with others to bring surreal imagery to life. She creates makeup designs that push boundaries and body-painted creatures that create fantasy worlds. Even at children's events, there's a sense of wonder and mystery that only a child can bring to the experience.
